Thermal Imaging Assessment.

The Deal; $250. A thermal camera assessment of your property to gauge how efficiently your home is insulated and how best to improve the thermal efficiency of your property. The visit will usually take 1-2 hrs and you will receive jpg pictures of relevant areas of your property, detailing the areas most in need of improvement. I will give you advice of the works recommended as well as quotes for the work. There is no obligation to use me for the insulation/improvement works, I will give advice if you wish to undertake them yourself and you are free to obtain other quotes and advice based on the information gained in the assessment. The pictures are yours to keep and will allow you to tackle thermal leaks around your home immediately or any time in the future.

How it works;

My camera is a Flir E5 Thermal Imaging camera. It has a display and JPEG output of 120x90pixels, it can differentiate a temperature difference of 0.1'Celcius.
In Summer it is best to scan the property when it is hot outside with the property cooling system (AC) on.
In winter it is best when the weather is cold and the heating is on.
The greater the temperature differential between inside and out the more thermal leaks will be visible. By scanning with the camera thermal leaks are easily spotted and pictures can be taken recording the various areas of inefficiency.
Common problems include missing insulation Batts in walls or ceilings or insulation altogether not present in an area.
Drafts and air leaks around doors, windows or other openings.
Thermal bridges through concrete pads, lintels or joists.
The inspection is 100% non invasive and at a glance you will know how efficient you house is performing, the most immediate and cost effective ways to re-mediate any problems and any passive management techniques that can be better used to manage heating/cooling costs such as opening/closing curtains/blinds at different times of the day or opening doors and windows at certain times.

Other Uses of the Survey;

Other faults that are commonly flagged by the camera include water leaks in building structure and even pest infestations such as rodents or termites which if identified early can save serious time and money in damage.

Reassessment.

If you or another contractor makes the modifications to the building and you'd like to reassess the building I can return for a faster reassessment for $100 again leaving you with the pictures of the new condition.
If I have carried out the works this is included in the price.

The thermal assessment will allow you to identify faults with the building and efficiently target areas where best you can cost and time effectively improve your thermal performance immediately saving you money on your heating and cooling bills. insulating your home saves money and energy immediately and will keep paying back for the life of your home.

Have a look at my photos, these are pictures uploaded from the camera showing real life thermal inefficiencies.
